On Tuesday, December 19th at 7:30pm, the Church of the Little Flower will have its annual Advent Service of Light, a scriptural and choral prayer service that beautifully captures the spirit of Advent and helps prepare us for the coming solemnity of Christmas. It’s not to be missed!
All are welcome.
Wednesday, December 20th at 7:00pm
On Wednesday, December 20th, beginning at 7:00pm in church, several priests will be available to assist the faithful with the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
It would be an excellent occasion to come to confession and spiritually prepare for Christmas. All are welcome.
Since Christmas falls on a Monday this year, the Fourth Week of Advent is only one day long! Because our liturgical celebrations of Sundays and Major Feasts begin the evening before (hence the Eves and Vigils), Masses on the evening of Sunday, December 24th this year count for CHRISTMAS, but NOT for the 4th Sunday of Advent. We have an obligation to attend Masses on BOTH of those Solemnities, so we have to go to two distinct Masses, one for SUNDAY and one for CHRISTMAS! Wondering how to navigate this complex “Christmas falls on a Monday” scenario next week?
Sunday Masses for the 4th Sunday of Advent will be celebrated on Saturday, December 23rd at 5:00pm and on Sunday, December 24th at 7:30am, 9:00am, 10:30am, and 12:3 pm (Spanish).
Christmas Masses will be celebrated on Sunday, December 24th at 5:00pm, 7:00pm, and 11:30pm (Bilingual) and on Monday, December 25th at 9:00am, 10:30am, 12:30pm (Spanish), and 5:00pm.
- Can I go to Mass on Saturday evening (SUNDAY) and Monday (CHRISTMAS)? YES!
- Can I go to Mass on Saturday evening (SUNDAY) and Sunday evening (CHRISTMAS)? YES!
- Can I go to Mass on Sunday morning (SUNDAY) and then again on Sunday evening (CHRISTMAS)? YES, and you should receive Communion both times, too!
- Can I go to Mass on Sunday morning (SUNDAY) and on Monday (CHRISTMAS)? YES!
- Does the Sunday evening Mass count for both Sunday AND Christmas? NO, those are CHRISTMAS Masses. If you wait to go to Mass on until Sunday evening, you will have missed your Sunday obligation!
As a way to thank God for the new calendar year 2018 and to ask his blessings upon our journey ahead, we will have a Holy Hour, including Solemn Benediction on Tuesday, January 2nd at 7:00pm.
All are welcome to join us, as we spend time in adoration and intercession.
Parishioners who have not done so before are invited to come to the rectory residence to have dessert with Father Davis. You bring the dessert; Father will provide the coffee and refreshments.
Having no particular agenda, it’s simply an opportunity, as parishioners, to have a casual chat with the Pastor. There are only twelve seats at the rectory’s dining room table, so space is limited.
If you are interested, please call Maria Elena Chialastri, (305) 446-9950, ext.306, to get your name on the list.
On Sunday, January 28th, COTLF will hold its re-scheduled annual Ministries Fair to showcase the (now) 55 active ministries and services that are part of the life of our parish community.
Ministry leaders are starting to prepare for the event. But, all parishioners are welcome to attend and participate.
It will last from 9:30am to 2:30pm.
Mark your calendars. Free refreshments available.
Tuesday, January 30th - 7:30pm.
For the 49 parishioners joining Father Davis on the February 16th pilgrimage to the Holy Land, there will be a pre-departure meeting on Tuesday, January 30th at 7:30pm in Comber Hall.
Travel documents, itineraries, plane tickets, luggage tags, and other travel related information will be distributed at that time. The spiritual adventure of a lifetime is now right around the corner. See you on January 30th.
We invite you to attend the 19th Annual Marriage Covenant Retreat the Weekend of March 3rd, 4th & 5th. The Marriage Covenant retreat consists of a weekend of activities, talks, and exercises to strengthen our marriages. We cover key topics such as God’s place in our marriage, praying as a couple, communication, forgiveness, and family.
The retreat provides a unique opportunity to pause from daily life and reflect on our marriages. It is also a great way to have fun and to meet other couples. Subsequent to the retreat, we have monthly meetings. These meetings not only strengthen our marriage but they are fun and create long-lasting friendships.
