Parish Finance Manager


Church of the Little Flower is seeking to hire a full time Parish Finance Manager. This professional reports directly to the Pastor and is responsible for supporting the Pastor in planning, directing, and coordinating all of the financial operations of the parish. Primary areas of responsibility include budget forecasting and preparation; accounting (payables, receivables, journal entries and bank reconciliation), and the establishment of internal controls. This leader will also liaise and collaborate with other ministry leaders, the finance council, and the Parish Development Director to help the Pastor maintain the parish in good financial health as well as foster stewardship discipleship. The Parish Finance Manager performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include:

  • Direct, plan, and coordinate the financial operations of the parish in alignment with the pastor’s strategic plan.
  • Direct and coordinate financial and budget activities to fund operations and increase efficiency.
  • Assist the pastor in fostering a culture of stewardship and transparency.
  • Design and implement internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure integrity and transparency in all financial transactions; form and train staff and others on the policies, procedures, and the proper completion of the forms.
  • Oversee and assist in the timely preparation of budgets, annual reports, interim reports, general ledgers and monthly reports (balance sheets and statements) and provide reports to the pastor, and the Finance Council. Prepare annual statement of financial position, and financial dashboards.
  • Establish and build a good relationship with the bank to facilitate management of accounts and problem solving.
  • Set up accounting infrastructure such as Cash accounts, Payroll, Vendors, and Bank Reconciliation.
  • Balance accounts. Resolve accounting issues related to Journal Entries, Bank Reconciliations, Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and submit reconciliations.
  • Process Journal Entries in ConnectNow.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable functions, including but not limited to correspond with vendors regarding invoices, charges, disputes, and provide information required by vendors.
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable functions including but not limited to prepare and monitor offertory collections with tamper-evident control bags for all masses; ensure all bags are accounted for, counted, deposited, and recorded.
  • Oversee payroll vendor’s issuing and filing of payroll tax forms, W-2, 1099s, and quarterly filings of RCT-6 with the FL Department of Revenue. Review 941s, check for accuracy, and ensure that copies are forwarded to office.
  • Oversee the management of parish financial records, ensuring that federal, state, and local taxes are paid in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Work with Archdiocesan Office of Finance to ensure that appropriate documentation is maintained in payroll and accounting files.
  • Facilitate Archdiocese of Miami auditing process, including preparation of necessary records and reports.
  • Coordinate with the Parish Development Director in the implementation of the annual ABCD campaign at the parish and liaise with the ADOM.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information.
  • Practice confidentiality concerning financial and contributors’ files.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management, Business or Public Administration, Accounting, or related field, with five years of professional-level experience.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and practices, including accounts receivable and general ledger.
  • Knowledge of modern office procedures and practices, including record keeping and data security.
  • Knowledge of fundraising and promotion of non-profit religious institutions; knowledge of principles and practices on non-profit accounting a plus.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including ability to maintain focus on and professionalism with people in challenging situations, both in person and by phone.
  • Skilled at needs analysis and implementing action plans.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel are required.
  • Effective computer literacy, including navigating online applications and search engines.
  • Good time management, including ability to manage several projects at the same time.
  • Effective oral and written English communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
  • Good Spanish spoken communication skills strongly preferred.
  • Supportive and respectful of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church; Experience in a Roman Catholic environment a plus.
  • Be a practicing Catholic in good standing and have a wholehearted support of the Catholic parish mission, with knowledge of basic tenets of Catholic Church and parish structures.
  • Must have a professional demeanor.

Coordinator of Youth Ministry


Church of the Little Flower is seeking to hire a Part-time Coordinator of Youth Ministry. The role provides leadership and coordination for the parish’s efforts in ministry to young people from 6th through 12th grades. The Coordinator of Youth Ministry develops close communication with and mutual support from families of youth and collaborates with other community and parish youth organizations, to boldly proclaim Christ through an authentic, affirming, and Eucharistic centered spirituality. The Coordinator of Youth Ministry performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.


Schedule: Part Time. 20 hours a week.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include:

  • Organize weekly gatherings and periodic retreats for parish youth.
  • Work with the Parish Life Coordinator and School Principal to plan and execute parish family formation and social events.
  • Cultivate teen leadership within the youth ministry program and parish at large.
  • Work together with the Parish Life Coordinator to facilitate parish opportunities for attendance at national youth evangelization programs (such as NCYC, Steubenville Conferences, and Life Teen camps) and international youth events (such as World Youth Day).
  • Assist in directing the annual Vacation Bible School summer camp program.
  • Assign roles to all volunteers who facilitate youth ministry gatherings and other events.
  • Interact with local schools where parishioners attend.
  • Collaborate as a member of the parish staff.
  • Serve as a liaison between the parish and youth-targeted ministry groups, such as the Scouts and American Heritage Girls.
  • Serve as the liaison with the diocesan Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry and their programs, services, and resources, to participate in the ADOM association of professional youth ministers and in related trainings and fellowship events.
  • Work with the Office for Protection of God’s Children so that all adults working with minors (both volunteer and employee adults) are in compliance with the ADOM Safe Environment policies and Virtus trained.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree; volunteer experience in parish ministry.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Pastoral Studies, or related field; and three (3) years’ experience as an employee in a parish.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to effectively convey the official teaching of the Church in the areas of Scripture, doctrine, morality, and spirituality while demonstrating fidelity to these teachings.
  • Knowledge of church documents relating to youth ministry, particularly the 1997 USCCB document, Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry.
  • Knowledge of current resources, processes, and methodologies for youth faith formation.
  • Ability to initiate, plan, organize, implement, and evaluate parish youth faith formation.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Good computer literacy, including ability to navigate online applications and search engines effectively.
  • Demonstrated comfort in multi-cultural settings required.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including ability to maintain focus on and professionalism with people in challenging situations, both in person and by phone.
  • Good time management, including ability to manage several projects at the same time with accuracy.
  • Effective oral and written English communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
  • Good oral and written Spanish communication skills preferred.
