    Reading 1 Daniel 7:15-27

    I, Daniel, found my spirit anguished within its covering of flesh,
    and I was terrified by the visions of my mind.
    I approached one of those present
    and asked him what all this meant in truth;
    in answer, he made known to me the meaning of the things:
    “These four great beasts stand for four kingdoms
    which shall arise on the earth.
    But the holy ones of the Most High shall receive the kingship,
    to possess it forever and ever.”

    But I wished to make certain about the fourth beast,
    so very terrible and different from the others,
    devouring and crushing with its iron teeth and bronze claws,
    and trampling with its feet what was left;
    about the ten horns on its head, and the other one that sprang up,
    before which three horns fell;
    about the horn with the eyes and the mouth that spoke arrogantly,
    which appeared greater than its fellows.
    For, as I watched, that horn made war against the holy ones
    and was victorious until the Ancient One arrived;
    judgment was pronounced in favor of the holy ones of the Most High,
    and the time came when the holy ones possessed the kingdom.
    He answered me thus:

    “The fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom on earth
    different from all the others;
    It shall devour the whole earth,
    beat it down, and crush it.
    The ten horns shall be ten kings
    rising out of that kingdom;
    another shall rise up after them,
    Different from those before him,
    who shall lay low three kings.
    He shall speak against the Most High
    and oppress the holy ones of the Most High,
    thinking to change the feast days and the law.
    They shall be handed over to him
    for a year, two years, and a half-year.
    But when the court is convened,
    and his power is taken away
    by final and absolute destruction,
    Then the kingship and dominion and majesty
    of all the kingdoms under the heavens
    shall be given to the holy people of the Most High,
    Whose Kingdom shall be everlasting:
    all dominions shall serve and obey him.”

    Responsorial Psalm Daniel 3:82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87

    R. Give glory and eternal praise to him.
    “You sons of men, bless the Lord;
    praise and exalt him above all forever.”
    R. Give glory and eternal praise to him.
    “O Israel, bless the Lord;
    praise and exalt him above all forever.”
    R. Give glory and eternal praise to him.
    “Priests of the Lord, bless the Lord;
    praise and exalt him above all forever.”
    R. Give glory and eternal praise to him.
    “Servants of the Lord, bless the Lord;
    praise and exalt him above all forever.”
    R. Give glory and eternal praise to him.
    “Spirits and souls of the just, bless the Lord;
    praise and exalt him above all forever.”
    R. Give glory and eternal praise to him.
    “Holy men of humble heart, bless the Lord;
    praise and exalt him above all forever.”
    R. Give glory and eternal praise to him.

    Alleluia Luke 21:36

    R. Alleluia, alleluia.
    Be vigilant at all times and pray
    That you may have the strength to stand before the Son of Man.
    R. Alleluia, alleluia.

    Gospel Luke 21:34-36

    Jesus said to his disciples:
    “Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy
    from carousing and drunkenness
    and the anxieties of daily life,
    and that day catch you by surprise like a trap.
    For that day will assault everyone
    who lives on the face of the earth.
    Be vigilant at all times
    and pray that you have the strength
    to escape the tribulations that are imminent
    and to stand before the Son of Man.”

    Primera lectura Daniel 7, 15-27

    Yo, Daniel, me sentía angustiado y perturbado por las visiones que había tenido. Me acerqué a uno de los presentes y le pedí que me explicara todo aquello, y él me explicó el sentido de las visiones: “Esas cuatro bestias gigantescas significan cuatro reyes que surgirán en el mundo. Pero los elegidos del Altísimo recibirán el reino y lo poseerán por los siglos de los siglos”.

    Quise saber lo que significaba la cuarta bestia, diferente de las demás, la bestia terrible, con dientes de hierro y garras de bronce, que devoraba y trituraba, y pisoteaba lo sobrante con las patas; lo que significaban los diez cuernos de su cabeza y el otro cuerno que, al salir, eliminaba a otros tres, que tenía ojos y una boca que profería blasfemias y era más grande que las otras.

    Mientras yo seguía mirando, aquel cuerno luchó contra los elegidos y los derrotó, hasta que llegó el anciano para hacer justicia a los elegidos del Altísimo, para que éstos poseyeran el reino.

    Después me dijo: “La cuarta bestia es un cuarto rey que habrá en la tierra, mayor que todos los reyes, que devorará, trillará y triturará toda la tierra. Sus diez cuernos son diez reyes que habrá en aquel reino, y después vendrá otro, más poderoso que ellos, el cual destronará a tres reyes; blasfemará contra el Altísimo e intentará aniquilar a los elegidos y cambiar las fiestas y la ley. Los elegidos estarán bajo su poder durante tres años y medio. Pero al celebrarse el juicio, se le quitará el poder y será destruido y aniquilado totalmente. El poder real y el dominio sobre todos los reinos bajo el cielo serán entregados al pueblo de los elegidos del Altísimo. Será un reino eterno, al que temerán y se someterán todos los soberanos”.

    Salmo Responsorial Daniel 3, 82. 83. 84. 85. 86. 87

    R. (59b) Bendito seas para siempre, Señor.
    Hombres todos, bendigan al Señor.
    Pueblo de Israel, bendice al Señor.
    R. Bendito seas para siempre, Señor.
    Sacerdotes del Señor, bendigan al Señor.
    Siervos del Señor, bendigan al Señor.
    R. Bendito seas para siempre, Señor.
    Almas y espíritus justos, bendigan al Señor.
    Santos y humildes de corazón, bendigan al Señor.
    R. Bendito seas para siempre, Señor.

    Aclamación antes del Evangelio Cfr Lucas 21, 36

    R. Aleluya, aleluya.
    Velen y oren,
    para que puedan presentarse sin temor
    ante el Hijo del hombre.
    R. Aleluya.

    Evangelio Lucas 21, 34-36

    En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: “Estén alerta, para que los vicios, la embriaguez y las preocupaciones de esta vida no entorpezcan su mente y aquel día los sorprenda desprevenidos; porque caerá de repente como una trampa sobre todos los habitantes de la tierra.

    Velen, pues, y hagan oración continuamente, para que puedan escapar de todo lo que ha de suceder y comparecer seguros ante el Hijo del hombre”.

Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen.

St. Alphonsus Liguori

Spiritual Communion Prayer

At Thy feet, O my Jesus, I prostrate myself and I offer Thee repentance of my contrite heart, which is humbled in its nothingness and in Thy holy presence. I adore Thee in the Sacrament of Thy love, the ineffable Eucharist. I desire to receive Thee into the poor dwelling that my heart offers Thee. While waiting for the happiness of sacramental communion, I wish to possess Thee in spirit. Come to me, O my Jesus, since I, for my part, am coming to Thee! May Thy love embrace my whole being in life and in death. I believe in Thee, I hope in Thee, I love Thee. Amen.

Servant of God Rafael Cardinal Merry del Val

Anima Christi Prayer

Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from Christ’s side, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within Thy wounds hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee.
From the malicious enemy defend me.
In the hour of my death call me.
And bid me come unto Thee.
That I may praise Thee with Thy saints.
Forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer of Thanksgiving after Communion

Lord, Father all-powerful and ever-living God, I thank You, for even though I am a sinner, your unprofitable servant, not because of my worth but in the kindness of your mercy, You have fed me with the Precious Body & Blood of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. I pray that this Holy Communion may not bring me condemnation and punishment but forgiveness and salvation.

May it be a helmet of faith and a shield of good will. May it purify me from evil ways and put an end to my evil passions. May it bring me charity and patience, humility and obedience, and growth in the power to do good. May it be my strong defense against all my enemies, visible and invisible, and the perfect calming of all my evil impulses, bodily and spiritual. May it unite me more closely to you, the One true God, and lead me safely through death to everlasting happiness with You.

And I pray that You will lead me, a sinner, to the banquet where you, with Your Son and holy Spirit, are true and perfect light, total fulfillment, everlasting joy, gladness without end, and perfect happiness to your saints. grant this through Christ our Lord, Amen.

St. Thomas Aquinas

PROCESSIONAL

HOSANNA (PRAISE IS RISING) (Paul Baloche)

Hosanna, hosanna!
You are the God that saves us, worthy of all our praises
Hosanna, hosanna!
Come have your way among us, we welcome You here, Lord Jesus

Praise is rising, eyes are turning to You, we turn to You
Hope is stirring, hearts are yearning for You, we long for You
‘Cause when we see You we find strength to face the day
In your Presence all our fears are washed away, washed away

RESPONSORIAL PSALM

PSALM 22 (Francesca la Rosa)

My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?

PREPARATION OF THE ALTAR

EVEN UNTO DEATH (Audrey Assad)

Jesus, the very thought of you
It fills my heart with love
Jesus, You burn like wildfire
And I am overcome

Lover of my soul even unto death
With my every breath, I will love you
Lover of my soul even unto death
With my every breath, I will love you

Jesus, You are my only hope
And you, my prize shall be
Jesus, You are my glory now
And in eternity

One thing I desire
To see you in your beauty
You are my delight, You are my glory
You, my sacrifice
Oh, your love is all consuming
You are my delight, You are my glory

COMMUNION

O THE BLOOD (Mary E. Miller and Thomas Miller)

O the blood, crimson love
Price of life’s demand
Shameful sin placed on Him
The Hope of every man

O the blood of Jesus washes me
O the blood of Jesus shed for me
What a sacrifice that saved my life
Yes, the blood, it is my victory

Savior Son, Holy One
Slain so I can live
See the Lamb, the great I Am
Who takes away my sin

Oh the blood of the Lamb!
Oh the blood of the Lamb!
Oh the blood of the Lamb!
The precious blood of the Lamb!
What a sacrifice that saved my life
Yes, the blood, it is my victory

Oh what love, no greater love
Grace, how can it be?
That in my sin, yes even then
He shed his blood, his blood for me

POST-COMMUNION MEDITATION

FOR THE JOY SET BEFORE HIM (Latifah Makuyi)

On that hill there’s a broken man
A broken world cries for blood
Crying out for His Father’s hand
Darker days there were none

I can’t but look away as tears stream down His face
I thought all hope was lost, my Savior on that cross

I heard Him say, “It is finished now”
I saw the sky chase the sun
I heard the tear of Temple cloth
As He gave His spirit to God

The soldiers stood in awe, surely a righteous man He was

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus Son of God
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus Son of God

Heaven touched earth that day
In the most beautiful way
For the joy set before Him
For the joy set before Him

RECESSIONAL

IN CHRIST ALONE (Stuart Townsend and Keith Getty)

In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All.
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone! – who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe.
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied –
For every sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground his body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain.
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine –
Bought with the precious Blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life’s first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand,
Till He returns to call me home,
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand.
