The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception is normally celebrated on December 8, exactly nine months before the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (September 8). However, when that date falls on a Sunday, the feast is transferred to Monday, December 9th.
Earlier this year, the Vatican clarified, “The feast must be observed as a day of obligation on the day to which it is transferred.” Therefore, Monday, December 9th is a Holy Day of Obligation this year.
Masses for the Immaculate Conception will be celebrated on Monday, December 9th at 6:15am, 8:00am, and 7:00pm (English) and at 5:30pm (Español).
There will be no vigil as the Sunday evening Mass is celebrated as the II Sunday of Advent, not the Vigil of the Immaculate Conception.
