2nd Collection – Society for the Propagation of the Faith (World Mission Sunday)

The Society for the Propagation of the Faith is an international association coordinating assistance for Catholic missionary priests, brothers, and nuns in mission areas. The society was founded in Lyon, France, in 1822, by Pauline Jaricot and is the oldest of four Pontifical Mission Societies of the Catholic Church. The Propagation of the Faith continues to seek prayer and sacrifice for the world’s missions, now some 1,100 dioceses in Asia, Africa, the Pacific Islands and remote regions of Latin America. Each year, on World Mission Sunday, which we celebrate today, a special second collection is taken up in support of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. Thank you for your generosity and helping to spread the Good News of the Gospel throughout the world!
