My Dear Friends,
You’ve probably seen it announced in the bulletin over the last month or so, but I wanted to make it official: the Parish & School Fair will go on as planned on December 3-5 on the grounds of our school! We are very excited! So many of you have approached me about doing something big as a parish community since we haven’t done anything this big, well, since the last parish fair two years ago. Yes, it is ambitious, and it is most definitely big! This past week I spoke with the pastor of one of the largest parishes in the Archdiocese which had its Fall Festival two weeks ago. He told me that it went very well and added: “The response was incredible! People kept saying the parish needed this.” He was like a proud father who was so happy to see all his children together celebrating the love that binds them together through Jesus Christ. It made me, as your pastor, even more excited to celebrate the Parish and School Fair this year with all of you.
For months, the Fair Committee have been planning what should be a memorable three days for our community. They know that our children have been longing for the return of the fair and that adults have been longing for a sense of normalcy and celebration. So many sponsors have reached out wanting to support this grand endeavor knowing the wonderful tradition of our Fair. We need your support. We need volunteers to help in our different booths throughout the weekend. If you could spare an hour or two, we would welcome you with open arms.
Along with our Fair Committee Chairs, most of the work for the Fair has been handled by our new Director of Development for our Parish and School, Ms. Ashley Sacks. Ashley started working here in late September and has already done so much to help in the planning of this fair. So, if you want to volunteer, be a sponsor or have any questions about the fair, feel free to email Ashley at asacks@cotlf.org.
Most of the information for this event can be found on the fair website: cotlf.org/fair. There you can buy tickets and ride bracelets for your children, buy food tickets, see the wonderful prizes that we will be raffling off, and read about the health and safety protocols that we have in place.
More than anything and definitely more than a mere fundraiser, this is a time for us to come together as a parish community and celebrate. A parish fair is always a special opportunity to build up our corner of the Kingdom of God. We can eat together, share stories, and enjoy the friendships we have made over the years and make new friends as well. I look forward to spending time with your families and working with you to make our 2021 Fair a success. Invite your family and friends to join us the weekend of December 3, 4, & 5. New memories are just waiting to be made, and the Body of Christ will be strengthened as we work together to continue to make our parish and school shining beacons that proclaim the glory of God.
God bless you all,
